The Binnenhof is a complex of buildings in the centre of Den Haag (The Hague), Netherlands. It houses the meeting place of both houses of the States General of the Netherlands, as well as the Ministry of General Affairs and the office of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands. Built mostly in the 13th century, the Gothic castle originally functioned as residence of the counts of Holland and became the political centre of the Dutch Republic in 1584. The Binnenhof is among the oldest Parliament buildings in the world still in use today.

He became interested in photography during his teenage years after purchasing a Zenith fully manual SLR camera in the 1970s, primarily doing black and white work, developing his own films and producing prints in a makeshift darkroom in his parents bathroom! His first published print was in a 1978 edition of Ashai Pentax Photography magazine, featuring a portrait of a photogenic elderly man.
