He became interested in photography during his teenage years after purchasing a Zenith fully manual SLR camera in the 1970s, primarily doing black and white work, developing his own films and producing prints in a makeshift darkroom in his parents bathroom! His first published print was in a 1978 edition of Ashai Pentax Photography magazine, featuring a portrait of a photogenic elderly man.
