Grand Teton National Park is named for Grand Teton, the tallest mountain in the Teton Range. The naming of the mountains is attributed to early 19th-century French-speaking trappers les trois tetons (the three teats) was later anglicized and shortened to Tetons. At 13,775 feet, Grand Teton rises more than 7,000 feet above Jackson Hole, almost 850 feet higher than Mount Owen, the second-highest summit in the range.
After visiting this site for three consecutive mornings, we were finally rewarded on the third day with a beautiful sunrise of spectacular light, clouds and colour. It would have been easy just to stand and enjoy the spectacle happening before us, but fortunately, I remembered to press my camera shutter a few times to record this wonderful moment.
