A photograph by Philip Preston, with added digital paint effects, of the Caedmon Cross in St Mary's church looking towards the coastal town of Whitby, North Yorkshire, UK.
The Caedmon’s Cross is a late Victorian-style Celtic cross that commemorates the famous 7th century Anglo-Saxon poet, Caedmon, who lived for most of his life at St Hilda’s monastic community of Streonaeshalch (now Whitby), the predecessor to the present-day historic Whitby Abbey.
